A few days back, there was this report of some people arrested in UP for publishing a picture of Prophet Mohammed. I don't know why printing an image of him is banned.
I got this picture from a history website.
One more from a religion website.
I would like to get my hands on that magazine. Can anyone 'stumbling' upon this and/or reading this tell me why it is blasphemy? Is it coz I is black?

Hey man,
Make sure you remain anonymous. Posting such pics will land you a fatwa.
Images of Mohammed are totally banned as Muslims are fanatic about the fact that there should be no image worship. So, they go to any extent (including killing/jailing people) to prevent such images being published.
And there is this as well...

Qu'ran says it's forbidden to depict mohammed for idolatry. How are the danish cartoons considered "idolatry".
If you don't want to worship a picture then don't look..
So hypocritical and childish..

2006 update
Update 2
60 year old arab marries 15 year old
I guess he was so ugly and short that they ashamed to show what he really looked like.
Idolatory? They do that anyway by praying towards the Ka'aba, and kissing the blackstone there.
Sorry but we muslims don't worship anything but Allah, except for others who may worship human beings like "Christ" or Animals like "Cows" and such things and others who just worship "Statues or images". And we are proud of that and praise god every day for that. for the one who said "Qu'ran says it's forbidden to depict mohammed for idolatry." would you please tell me where in Qur'an is that mentioned. What is said in Qur'an is that Mohamed is merely a messenger of God and he only has to deliver the message not force anyone to be a muslim. What we have is that we are forbidden to depict anything who has a soul in statues, because that might lead people to worship them later.
I just wanted to clearify few things for some people here.. First of all, the Danish pictures of prophet mohammed made fun of Islam when they used a character that muslims' idealize and made fun of him.. there is something called "RESPECT", respecting others' religions, colors, genders, everything.. and the way they think as well, which means, people should respect the fact that islam fobbiden representations of the prophet or anything that has soul, haven't you even wondered why islamic art is mainly towards calligraphy, floral art, and geometrical designs?!.. From the way you talk, its very obvious that you don't have a good background of what you are saying.. And how can someone say I think he was ugly?! "RESPECT" again.. you are talking about someone who others idealize, can you respect that fact? its like asking a hindu friend to eat with you and then you serve him meat.. while you know that they can't eat it.. in other words, you should respect what others believe in.. And one more thing, we don't worship the ka'aba, we worship Allah, Ka'aba is just a one distination for all muslims to pray towards it.. Can you please read more about our religion before just saying anything like that? don't depend on what you see in media, its just totally different.. The world ain't change if people kept on judging from what they see, sometimes we need to see things with more depth..
there is no picture of the prophet (p.b.u.h) so people plz dont believe this crap in here. islam is a really clean and guiding religion and if we follow it properly by the guide lines of the holy quran then it will make you a complete human being who has respect for others, faith in one god, does right things and stops people from doing bad deeds. the message is straight forward and if any one understands it or read it with translation then and then only they will realise what the message is and then you decide for urself what the holy prophet p.b.u.h says or how he shows us to lead our lives is correct or not. we should all respect all religions so y is it so diffiucult if muslims are respecting our religions then we should do the same because i personally reckon give respect and get respect. now may god bless u all and plz spread love not war.
kind regards
Muslims who talk about having respect for others peoples religion, say it only when they are telling other people to respect their religion. The fact is that most muslims would burn a cross at a protest without hesitation. "Muslims are peaceful" read the wikipedia article about Theo van Gogh and his death. Islam is clearly an incubator for aggresive behavior. About Mohammed becoming an idol, anything can become an idol, music, sex, art. The religion which is just a christian rip-off has serious problems.
Anonymous-
In all honesty...think about it...read the "Quran". If "Mohammed" was so great, why not see what he would look like...
I beleive there should be a little more discussion? And one other thing...
How come our view of armageddon and their views are pretty much the same, yet worded differently.
Not Understanding a religion and asking question is one thing, but taking the mickey is just wrong. there's a world called respect.
by the way in case u haven't noticed in every society, in every religion, even in a family, there are people who are bad. so just because some people who calls them self Muslims are doing stuff which are wrong doesn't mean every Muslim is like that. so don't go saying all Muslims say peace when they go burning the cross or something like that because its wrong. Islam does mean peace. it's just some people get the wrong end of the stick.
like someone has just said yh there is a word called respect yh and islam does mean peacbut some muslims do go by what the quran says and some dont but tht dont make all of us bad, and myself being a muslim converted from christianity also thinks tht if i se a cross at a protest i would not even imagine burning i want people to respect my religion so i will respect others too so pls dont take it out on everyone.
Indeed, as if worshiping a black rock is not a form of "idol" worship. Muslims themselves are quite the idolaters.
